On-line banking has become an important part of all our lives, enabling people to manage their finances in cyberspace over secure connections at the websites ofeach of the various major banks. It has become a popular method of banking since the growth of the information highway means that a large percentage of homes and businesses have access to cyberspace almost all the time, and the convenience of on-line banking is too useful to ignore. There are various positive and negative aspects to this otherwise useful system.

I myself find on-line banking useful to transfer money between my various accounts (although sadly I have so little of it that this is largely a futile jugglingexercise) and have found that it is so much handier to be able to do itthis wayin Cyberspace there and then rather than having to go down to the bank to do whatever you need to do.It's so much quicker too. Some banks offer various incentives to set up online savings accounts or ISAs with them, but often there are so many to choose from that it is perhaps best to just choose one and stay with it rather than gallivant all over the information highway in search of the best deal, as usually this will change as soon as you sign up to it anyway!

Of course, a great many people are increasingly worried about the security of On-line Banking, since it is sometimes alarmingly easy for a hacker or likewise to access someone else's computer, and their finances are the one thing they cannot risk putting in danger. All it would take is one simple loophole in the site's web design for an experience hacker to access their account and that would be that, but the Information highway is not new and there are many procedures and programmes in place to prevent such theft. Of course, the more defences that are put up means the experienced hacker will redouble their efforts to break them, and so it is very important that you check the security of any online banking system before you begin to handle your money that way.
