My friend and I had recently been given a role as website designers. You know, we manage things like a server, a pop-up, the general stuff that a programmer is asked to do. We were quite new to the job, and so had little knowledge of what was being asked of us. The boss had hired a professional programmer to give us the "low-down" of what was expected of us. He would occasionally pop-up to check up on us every half hour or so, but usually he was just sat in his office taking phone calls for the company.

The boss seemed like a hard-working man, being an experienced programmer himself. He would know when the internal server for the company would go down within an instant, and he could also fix it within an instant. He was one of those men who strive to work, rather than just blag their way through the day. You could tell from a glance that he enjoyed his job and what he was doing, and you could obviously tell that he was loved by his fellow employees, as when he would pop-up to fix the server, he would be greeted lovingly by the employees.

We hoped that we would build this certain bond with the boss, as after all, he was the one that had hired us. We were certain that we needed to make the boss befriend us, and also the employees to befriend us, so that our time here would be a lot easier and more manageable. We had been told from fellow employees that the boss was an easy person to get along with, and so this made us feel a lot more confident to work and build up a relationship with him.

Our first day went really well. We managed to finish all the tasks asked of us quite efficiently. In fact, the boss was so impressed by our work, he gave us the rest of the day off. I don't know whether this was a good or a bad thing, but to be honest I didn't care. I knew I had made a good impression on the boss.
